The Mineral Research Association of NS General Meeting

The board of the Mining Association of Nova Scotia (MANS) has decided to establish a new organization called the Minerals Research Association of Nova Scotia (MRANS), a not-for-profit to focus on research activities that would help the province's mining and quarrying industry grow and create jobs, including managing our Minerals Play Fairway project.

All industry representatives are invited to attend MRANS' first general meeting on Thursday, September 20, at 9:00 am. at Toromont Cat (175 Akerley Blvd in Burnside). Members will elect a new board and adopt MRANS' bylaws at that meeting.

The Mining Association of Nova Scotia’s Annual General Meeting will be held Thursday, April 11th, 2019 at the Inn on the Lake, 3009 Highway 2, Fall River.

Upcoming Conferences

The Mining Association of Nova Scotia will be holding two conferences in coming months:

Consultation and Social License

The mining and quarrying industry is committed to being a good neighbour, but building social license can be complicated and sometimes presents certain challenges. Join us for a series of speakers who will discuss various aspects of consultation and social license - why it matters, how to do it better and different perspectives on what it means.

When: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2018
Where: The Doubletree Hilton (101 Wyse Rd. in Dartmouth)

While Nova Scotia's mining and quarrying industry has reduced its injury rate by 90% in the past two decades, our goal is to get to zero injuries. Come learn more about continuous improvement in safety through best practices, new technology and building a safety culture.

When: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2019
Where: ALT Hotel Halifax Airport (40 Silver Dart Drive, Enfield, right at Halifax Stanfield International Airport)

The conferences will be free to attend for all members of the mining and quarrying industry and government representatives.
